Pieces
Dear Terri,
I can’t yet….
delete your last text
remove your number from my phone
take out your last email when you shared your diagnosis
erase the remembrance of your final call when you said you had such peace.
But I think of you when I….
sip a steaming cup of tea
wear your turquoise boots
hear the growl of a Spyder motorcycle
touch that little Uganda-made salt dispenser.
I’ll always remember….
the sound of your laughter
learning about wind therapy
the mischievous sparkle in your eyes
following you and Harvey across Israel.
I only wish there had been….
more gatherings
more trips
more chances
more time.
But God alone knew you’d leave behind….
pieces of yourself
in heart-shredding,
heart-mending
memories of your agape love.
