Synopsis
Whenever I set out to work on a project through this ministry, (TCM), I'm never quite sure where it will end up or what the final result will be spiritually. Such was the case with this Uganda Women's Leadership Conference.
Since my first trip to Uganda in 2001 and our first women's conference that year, Monique and I have dreamed of doing something for the Ugandan women in Christian leadership. I have teamed up with Nancy Pennington of Firefall International for this kind of women's leadership ministry in Vietnam and India, and it seemed a natural progression of events. So while on the 2007 India trip, while sipping tea in Tripura, Nancy and I planned of making a Uganda Women's Leadership Conference a reality. After returning to the states, I called Monique and the ball was set in motion for Uganda Women's Conference - 2009.
Jocey Sluka, a long-time friend of Nancy, was thrilled to join our U.S. team while Monique brought several women leaders together in Uganda. From its inception, this conference has had the Hand of God all over it. We determined in the early stages to reach out to the women who were never exposed to this sort of outside training or ministry?the women leaders of the remote bush areas. To travel to these areas would be extremely difficult, so we decided to bring them in from the outmost reaches of Uganda and host the conference in the Kampala area. Monique's church in Ntinda was chosen as the set for this great move of the Lord. This in itself was no small undertaking! Some of these women had never ventured outside their villages and others came from long and difficult distances. By the fourth day of the conference, nearly 300 women came from near and far to receive from the Lord. They were still coming on the final day!
In the end, the Word of God brought healing, hope, transformation and Holy Spirit empowerment to these beautiful, African daughters of the King. God miraculously provided for Terri Clark Ministries, partnering with Firefall International, with all the needed funds to transport, house, feed and minister to these precious ladies. Monique, Nancy, Jocey and I humbly thank each of you who prayed and gave financially. There is no way of measuring how far-reaching these four days of ministry will be. Over twenty districts throughout the nation of Uganda were represented. These ladies will take what they learned and pass it along to those under their ministry leadership, to their families, to their marriages and to their circle of influence in the villages. How awesome is it to serve the Almighty God? We give Him all the glory and praise.
